who do u think would have starred in Hitch's next proposed movie 'The Short Night'?

I think Sean Connery was already signed but I could be mistaken and Liv Ullman and Catherine Deneuve were supposedly the female parts.

And Walter Matthau as the villain.

Whether or not these actors really committed or were just being nice to the very sick and old Hitchcock, we'll never know.

I read that Julie Andrews was cast as the female lead, and I believe some kind of principal photography may have been in the works.

No, Hitchcock was approached by his assistant (Hilton Green) and another director (Peter Bogdanovich) and both told him that they would film scenes from Hitchcock's storyboards in Finland, but Hitch refused to work that way (second unit could film things, yes, but these were DRAMATIC SCENES), and no photography was made.

I don't think he wanted to work again with Julie Andrews.

Ed Lauter has said that Hitchcock wanted him as the second lead.
