The next to last scene

Could someone...ANYONE...please clear something up for me please? At the VERY end of the film, Devlin is standing on a ridge at the beach with the two traitor doggies. He looks down and sees the German E-Boat beached. Has the boat been destroyed? Is it waiting for high tide? What the heck is going on with it please?

H.A.L. + 1 = I.B.M. Arthur Clarke is a scary man.

I think it just sums up that the whole plot to kidnap Churchill was doomed to failure, even if they did manage to get him on the boat.

In a scene a little earlier, when the badly wounded "Hans" gets on the ship, the captain says that he has little time to set off or the boat will be caught in the tide. And that's exactly what we saw had happened, in that scene at the end.

Yea i remember that bit,but meant to say,if they where killed in action or taken prisoner i suppose?.
