Any one else note the goof in the goofs section??

One of the "goofs" for this movie deals with the use of Russian cigarettes and it's wrong on several counts;

Firstly; Devlin didn't borrow a cigarette off of Steiner, Michael Caine's character, he borrowed one off of Radl, Robert Duvall's character.

And when Duvall stated that he picked up a taste for them in the "winter war" he was obviously referring to the Russian front as in the winter of Germany's invasion of Russia. Anyone in the German military at that time, or associated with the German military would have known exactly what he was talking about, as Devlin did.

In the novel it explains that his many injuries; his eye, his hand, etc. were from the winter war.

i agree. that goof is wrong. I think another is too.
The women run off to tell of the threat and they use the terms assissinate and kill only; not kidnap like the goof claims.

is there a way to unlist goofs?

Sorry but you are wrong. I just saw the movie on Turner Classics.

One woman says the plot against Churchill is to kill him and the other to kidnap. I noticed the Goof while watching the film.

They had only heard the priest say (wrongly) that the Germans were going to kill Churchill. When watching the film I wondered why the one woman said "kidnap", how did she jump from kill to that?

The term "Winter War" usually refers to the soviet invasion of Finland in 1939/40. I think that no nazi troops were involved there, since the soviets attacked under the umbrella of the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty, but who knows? Maybe Radl was spending a vacation in Carelia bythat time

No, sorry but that's not correct, during WW II, in the German military the term "Winter War" referred to the Russian Front. The German army actually issued a "Winter War" ribbon to be worn on uniform, Radl wears one.

Also, if you've read the novel, they refer to this numerous times.
