Something that's overlooked in the explanation of the Wolf's Lair assassination attempt is that the meeting was originally scheduled in an underground bunker and rescheduled to a wooden building above ground. For the original room, von Stauffenberg's choice of explosives was quite sufficient - had the bomb exploded in the bunker, its concrete walls would have contained the blast resulting in a more effective explosion. As it was, the walls of the wooden building allowed the force of the blast to dissipate, reducing its effectiveness. (Of course, moving the briefcase didn't help much either!)
Adm. Kanaris[proper spelling!] and his son were shot[or hung?] near the end of the war for the "von Staufenberg conspiricy"...
Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, along with many other prisoners, was hung in the closing days of the war.
