Captain Clarks report

Following the fight at the church Captain Clark reports that Steiner, a badly injured German officer and the Irishman are all still missing - how could Captain Clark have known Steiner's name as it was never stated to anyone the whole time he was present in the village? Also how could he be aware that a badly injured German officer was the other missing one, given the hectic firefight it could have been a soldier of any rank that was missing - how could he be so sure?

reply

The villagers were released prior to the fight. The vicar could easily have told them the enemy numbers and casualties.

"I know you've gone through hell."
"Gone? Bitch we still here!"

reply

Trouble is the film doesn't follow the book exactly, which leads to gaps in the storyline.

reply

Didn't Steiner introduce himself to Clark when he lets the hostages go?

reply

Yes I'm sure he did.
