Johanna (Jean Marsh)

Maybe this is explained in the book, or maybe it's a giant goof.
If Johanna is a German national, wouldn't she be have been detained as an enemy alien? At the beginning of the war it was mainly men who were detained, but at the point of the war as depicted in the movie both men & women were detained.

She said she was a South African national, and a Boer to boot.

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

I missed that somehow. So she's just a sympathiser.

In the book, Johanna was much older, old enough to have personally experienced ill-treatment in the Boer War. Hence her bitterness and readiness to help the Nazis.
