Song

Did anyone else think that the song sung by Ann Turkel, accompanied by her young gang of musicians, was ridiculous? She couldn't sing and the song was so bland. I don't know why every star-filled, disaster film of the 70's (which this clearly aspired to be), had to have someone singing a new song in it. I guess that the producers knew the only chance that they ever had of getting an Oscar nomination was in the song category?? I've never been a big fan of Maureen McGovern and her sappy Poseidon Adventure and Towering Inferno melodies but, compared to Turkel and this thing, McGovern is Edith Piaf!!!

I agree. The cring-inducing song is dreadful and horribly warbled by Ms. Turkel. If the song had been written by the composer of the terrific score (Jerry Goldsmith), then it would have been wonderful.

"Thus, we began our longest journey together."
Adult Scout, 'To Kill A Mockingbird'

It is a very dated convention, to say the least! I FF through such cringe-inducing songs...
