Graduation
What about the kids who didn't go to the prom? Did they just not have a graduation ceremony for them?

shareIn high school, I never went to a prom, and I had them mail my diploma to me so I wouldn't have to go to their silly graduation and wear one of those dorky square hats. I had more important stuff going on. To this day, decades later, I don't regret it a bit. I didn't miss anything. People who remember their high school years as the best time of their lives are pitiful.
shareSomeone sounds bitter.
shareHe does but why is Prom associated with getting a diploma? There is generally a prom and then a graduation ceremony and they aren't tied to each other.
I imagine the people who did not go to prom graduated but considering a good portion of their classmates were gone because of Carrie it was probably morbid.
That was my question. It looked like the majority of the class was dead. Would they even bother with the whole ceremony? Or just get the diplomas on the last day.
On another note, I didn't go to prom either. But I don't have bitter feelings to people who did and/or like to remember it.
I went to several proms, but believe it or not, I didn't bother with my own senior prom at my own High School. You didn't miss anything if you never went to a prom.
I was reading some of the comments. To me, High School was kind of out of sight, out of mind. Never had any desire to go to any reunions because the people I was friends with, I stayed friends with. One really didn't care about the rest of the class.
But no bitterness. 4 years of my life, had a great time. Go to graduation, get your diploma and then you move on.
I have good and bad memories. I stayed in touch with some and eventually lost touch. That's just life. My remark was about someone saying those were their best years are "pitiful" sounds like something someone bitter would say. If you have no good memories, you have none. But let others enjoy if they have great memories.
shareYeah I'm with you Ladybug. No bitterness and it isn't pitiful. Maybe what one could consider pitiful is continuing to live in that moment. Your life should move on from High School - if it doesn't - yeah, this is probably pitiful. But having a laugh now and then with a friend from those days - what's wrong with that?
shareThe phrases "...I don't regret it a bit," and "I didn't miss anything" suggest that, rather than being "bitter", I actually couldn't care less about high school, then or now. It's interesting how that triggers some people. Apparently high school is sacred to them, and no one dares speak otherwise. Talk about bitter!
shareLMAO The phrase "People who remember their high school years as the best time of their lives are pitiful." sounds like something a bitter person would say. yeah, remembering great times, being pretty much care-free and just enjoying life shouldn't be fondly remembered. " I had more important stuff going on." sounds like someone who was never invited to anything and just sat in their room, then says something like that to make it sound like they were actually doing something.
In fact, the wording of your entire post sounds like a bitter person triggered by people with good memories.
I'm introverted and I agree with you.
shareNo, someone just stated why they didn't want to go to their graduation. I really didn't want to go.
shareNo, prom and graduation were 2 different things, so if you didn't want to go to the Prom, you simply didn't
sharelol, I bet some kid with a 2.0 GPA got promoted to valedictorian
shareSo, if I didn't go to the prom, a student like would have had the chance LMAO
If you didn't go to that prom (the black prom) then you were probably one of the only ten (twenty tops) or so people left alive in that graduating class. I think some left early and some just didn't go; maybe some went but managed to get out somehow.
