Betty Buckley....
Am I the only one who found her performance of Miss Collins to be borderline scary? Yes, she was kind to Carrie and cared for her, but as a teacher, she would have terrified me in high school lol.

shareIt was a bit scary — she could be sweet but sure didn’t take any shit from those girls.
I knew several PE teachers that were much like her. Buckley *became* a gym teacher in this movie. I’m wondering where she got the life experience to play that so convincingly. And she was only 29.
The performances in this movie are uniformly first rate — two were Oscar nominated. I wonder how the producers got so lucky getting such an excellent cast for tricky material. Since I don’t believe in luck, I’ll point my finger at the one person they all took instruction from — director dePalma.
I’d really love some detail on the making of this classic. Was there ever a director’s commentary released, or a book?
