Does anyone know how to get in touch with James Spinks. I met him while I living in Chicago. Mr. Spinks taught me how to play a few songs on piano when I was younger. I would always go to recreation center on the city's westside. He talked about Car Wash, but I never really knew the movie. I am about 30 years old, and am just now seeing it. I was about 15 at the time. I can not find him in this movie, but his name was in the opening credits.

I'd really like to reach him to get in touch with him. The center does not know anything about him anymore. Is he still alive?? I'd imagine he was about 45-50 years old at the time. I want to show him what I've made of myself now that I am grown, and a working professional.

I'd just like to know how to reach him. I will keep watching because if I look hard enough-- I will find him. Car Wash buffs, if you can please help. I do not think I heard anyone call anyone Hippo. Thanks.

sorry, buy jimmy passed approximately 10 years ago...i was fortunate to have met his acquaintance - i was introduced to him by my ex-high school band teacher, willie pickens, at the green mill...he later went on to host monday night open mic at the cotton club over by michigan and cermak. he was a very good brother.
