Interesting uncredited role....

I'm surprised to discover that the young woman about to use the public telephone but rushed in instead by the Fly is actress Brooke Adams in an uncredited role. Brooke Adams would star 2 years later in the equally superb version of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. I thought that anyone, though I don't know what constitutes the criteria, in the camera would deserve credit for appearing. I thought this was the case with then unknown actress Sigourney Weaver in Woody Allen's Annie Hall. She appears on screen for 13(?) seconds or less in the background.

Anyway, Car Wash is hilarious. Big ups.

If you've ever seen the TV version of this film, you'll realize that Adams had a much bigger role in the film...a WHOLE SUBPLOT IN FACT!!!! She was co-owner with her husband of a diner right across the street from the Car Wash. The husband was played by an even MORE famous performer who was totally cut from the film all together. It's been discussed on another thread.

What's also surprising is that Danny DeVito played Brooke's husband in the movie. They ran that little lucheon stand and they were always fighting. Their parts were cut from the original movie and I don't know why. I mean, their characters weren't really important to the overall story but I thought it was funny. There was also a scene when Melanie Mayron's character made a date with the "hunk" at the cash register. But later, when he came to pick her up, he already had a beautiful date but left the "nerd" for Melanie, who looked heartbroken. Does anyone remember that?!

I do...He said "should we go straight to the motel"!

ALSO Why were the Danny Devito scenes cut from the dvd version?
