one good feel good movie

I wasn't feeling that great when I started watching this film for the upteenth time today, but I was sure in a state of bliss by the end. This is a feelgood film if there ever was one – a joy from start to finish with a killer soundtrack, tempered only by the fact that much of the cast is no longer with us.

I agree, it's perfect for late night which is when I first saw it in the 80's. My mother was asleep and it was playing on a channel she left on (she always sleeps with the TV on). It got my attention because of how raw it was, just like you're watching real people working at a real car wash. It really doesn't have a beginning or ending, only a peek at the lives of interesting blue-collar people goofing around for a day. These types of movies are always fun to watch, especially from this era.
