I guess he was a reverand, but he also seemed like a pimp with all the women around him. Maybe he was a combination of both ?

There used to be a so-called evangelist back then that was all flash and bent on money -- "Reverend" Ike: "...His critics said he preyed on the poor and conned the faithful into giving him donations that he spent on cars, clothes and homes for himself. I believe that the fictional Daddy Rich was based on the real live Reverend Ike.

His personalized license plate "TITHE" says it all. A tenth of all his followers' income that was pledged to the church went to him so he could buy his car, etc.
