A remake that SHOULD be done. Let's cast one!

Today, unlike in 1976, it would be entirely feasible to make a movie based on the book At the Earth's Core, by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Some love the 1976 film, some hate it, some don't care. But the truth is, the technology just wasn't there.

Now it is. The vast horizonless expanse of timeless Pellucidar can now be shown in all it's breathtaking glory. Since Jurassic Park, it's been obvious that yes, you can make realistic dinosaurs in a movie. The Discovery Channel and affiliates have made it obvious that saber-toothed cats, mastodons, pterodactyls, and so on are also available for the cast of creatures.

That just leaves us with the cast of humans. Who might you suggest for...

David Innes: ?
Abner Perry: ?
Dian the Beautiful: ?
Ghak the Hairy: ?
Ja: ?

And an extra special casting call for Tarzan At The Earth's Core: Emma Watson as Jana, the Red Flower of Zoram.

Still trying, here.

David Innes: Best if he's an unknown.
Some good looking athletic guy under thirty with some acting ability who's believable as a civilized man gone primitive.

Abner Perry: Michael Caine.
I forget who suggested this. I was against it at first, but he talked me into it. I now think he'd be great... IF it were made right now!

Dian the Beautiful: Kathleen Munroe.
No relation to Caroline Munro.

Ghak the Hairy: Me.
I'd need to work out and take some acting lessons, but I'm hairy.

Ja: Dwayne Johnson, The Rock.
Well, hey, he looks the part.

And I'm sticking by my extra special casting call for Tarzan At The Earth's Core: Emma Watson as Jana, the Red Flower of Zoram.

Hugh Laurie in the Peter Cushing role and Matt Damon doing his best Doug McClure impersonation. I'd love to see that.

reply

I think I could live with that. Laurie is a bit young and Damon is a bit old, but it could work.

A bigger problem with me is that Damon is very well known, but I guess an unknown is unlikely.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.

Now I think Peter Capaldi should play Peter Cushing's part...

reply

I can see him in the role easy enough.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.

Abner Perry was actually an American in the book, the casting of Petre Cushing prompted them to change the character to a Brit.

Everything will be OK in the end, if it aint OK,it aint the end.

reply

Yep. Tarzan is a Brit, not Abner Perry.
