I suppose. Carolyn Munroe said they'd made it for kids, but if that was the case then why have her character in a romance with Doug McClure's character?

Still, it was an interesting film. I hadn't seen it for ... what now, thirty years? Kind of like seeing a long lost friend.

Because it's a key story element in ERB's book. They even get married and Dian (aka Dia in the movie) goes to the surface with her new hubby.
