Stop, Cushing, stop! Stop saying 'DAVID'!

You can play a great drinking game by taking a drink whenever Cushing says "David!" You'll be smashed before they even drill into the Earth. Throughout the film, Cushing bleats David's name over and over again. At one point, someone even seems to whip him for it, and the audience feels a twinge of vicarious pleasure.

By the way, I just saw this movie at a drive-in theater last night for the first time ever, and I loved it. It was part of an eight-movie, two night drive-in event called the annual Drive-In Super Monster-Rama at the Riverside Drive-In in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. "At The Earth's Core" was fantastic, it reminded me that even when a film doesn't have great special effects, it can still be imaginative and fun to watch. Check my blog for a rundown of all eight Cushing films in the festival!

It was a drive-in where I saw this for the first time. Even at a very young age, Carolin Munroe caught my pre-pubescent attention!

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.

LOL...was just coming on here to post about the overuse of "David! David!"

Cushing was terrible in this movie, and Munroe did not have nearly enough scenes...but McClure saved the day as usual.

It felt like Cushing had just stepped off the Dr. Who set and was still in that character.

Peter Cushing was brilliant in this movie. He played it for laughs and generated a hell of a lot of them. Just look at his expression when he is mesmerised just after claiming he can't be.

I laughed at the repetition. It was as if the bumbling Tarkin character was afraid that he would forget David's name if he didn't keep repeating it.

It was an homage to the woman in King Kong Escapes who kept screaming "Kong". Plus if you paid attention in the beginning, Cushing acknowledges that his character has tourettes syndrome, hence the repeating of "David" thruout the movie
