No mention of Darwin Joston's death on special edition

Im not going to lie, I was kind of put off by that. I watched the special Q and A thing with Carptenter and Stoker, and watched the feature commentary, and I couldn't figure out what happened to Joston. Why wasn't he interviewed? Did he die? No, he couldn't be dead, because his death is never acknowledged.
Turns out, yeah, he's dead. I was just kind of surprised that his death never came up. I thought he and carpenter must have had a falling out.
I don't know why that stuck me. I dunno. But it did. Anyway, great movie.

I agree with you that it would have been nice if they had said something about his death in the interview itself. The first time I watched the movie (and the interview), I assumed he was still alive, too. It is acklowedged (though in a very small way) in the dvd still gallery. There is a picture of Joston captioned, "Darwin Joston 1937-1998."

As to his relationship with Carpenter: Joston was interviewed in a 1988 episode of "Art Fein's Poker Party", and he said that he and Carpenter had sort of drifted apart, but he didn't indicate anything more serious than that.
