Why could the celebrities only come on the show once and then never again? Was it ever said why?

Maybe Henson didn't want it to be like Saturday Night Live, where favorites keep coming back. He also had a falling out with that show anyway.

I suppose to keep the material fresh. And also give everybody who wanted to be on it a chance.
