Why not a new muppet show? It seems obvious to re-start. Doesn't it?

With all these terrible movie re-treads out there, why would they not put on TV something that is a sure sell.

The kids who used to watch this are parents now. It would seem that you would have an instant audience with little problems.

And more importantly, wouldn't it be easy to get the A-list stars? It's amazing how often the muppets come up these days. It would not take too much to get Hanks, Depp, Roberts. I'm sure there would be a waiting list of stars to impress their kids. This would also be a great vehicle for the Lindsay Lohan types who need to soften their image.

Why are they not doing this again?

Agree comopletly, though they tried it a few years ago

The Muppets Tonight only made it 2 seasons, and from what I remember it just wasnt that funny, it didnt have the same magic that the original had.

No Henson is one good reason. Disney is another, I just don't think the old show's format would sit well with the newer image Disney has drummed up for them on Disney Channel.

I agree, Brian is no Jim.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

No Hunt is another good reason. Statler and Waldorf will never sound right again(that "Marley and Marley" scene kind of put me off on future Muppet movies, sadly).

Do you know how HIGH the Muppets contracts would be to do a weekly show in 2011? I dont think the members of the Electric Mayhem are even on speaking terms anymore.

Pepe is a Prawn.

I'm hoping with the success that the new movie, a relaunch of the show will happen. I'd love to see a weekly 30 hour show on Sunday, on ABC. Disney owns ABC, so why not? I think if Segel and Stoller were on the writing team for a relaunch of the show, it would be fantastic! The writing for the new movie was GREAT! Albeit a bit slow in some parts, it was still great over all. So I would LOVE to see a relaunch of the show.

I think some things are meant to only live in their original forms. I don't think Disney in its current mega-corporation form can appropriately do an homage of the original Muppet Show. It would only be a sad, hollow attempt. It's better to watch the work of Jim Henson and compatriots that was true genius and be glad we have it preserved for the future.
