I don't get how they were able to tape episodes overseas in England, and still tape episodes of Sesame Street in NYC. Did they do like, 5 episodes of The Muppet Show a day? A lot of shows tape several episodes in one day or within two days.

What's so hard to "get"? The Muppets and Sesame Street are 2 different production companies. Which is why when Disney brought The Muppets, they didn't get the rights to Sesame Street. While both owned by Jim Henson (hence cross overs), it was still 2 different productions. In fact The Muppets (TV show) was originaly created for a UK audience (the ITV channel in the UK) and used as a vheicle to get (at the time) unknown American stars on UK TV, as well as known UK perfomers. The Muppets was a UK production.
Where as Seasme Street was an American production specificaly for Americans.

On average an episode would take about 3 days to film.

The Muppets was primarily made for UK tv although it crossed over to the USA as intended. Writers were both from the UK and USA and many of the star guests were British.
Sesame Street is not in production all year long. They would have scheduled the taping of The Muppet Show during the off months (possibly the summer break) so the muppeteers didn't have to fly back and forth between New York and London all the time.
Still, Henson, Oz, Jerry Nelson and Richard Hunt must have been very busy in those years, not to mention they also made the Muppet Movie in between as well as several TV specials.
