Hence, the symbolism of her "coming out of the closet" during the opening theme. They just never followed up w/ it on the show.

We're talking about 70s TV, ya know ?

Oooh, that is good! I never noticed that! But she sure was man-crazy, maybe she would have been bi? She had the long-term serious relationship with Shirley & then fooled around with boys for some fun?

Nah, i don't think her and Shirley had anything going on.Shirley was a little too much of a straight shooter. But I'm fairly sure they both provided for one another in other ways. Shirley probably gave Laverne advice on how to turn cute girls over to her side. Laverne took care of Shirley by defending her in fights.

I am sorry.. but no way.. Laverne was straight.. she liked to 'vodio do do".. and dated way too many guys to be on the other side of the tracks. Your point is a good one.. but I have to disagree.

"Laverne & Shirley" did have a lot of lesbian subtext. There are several discussions about it on this board. I was just thinking about Laverne's arch enemy Rosie Greenbaum. The actress who played Rosie, Carole Ita White, is bisexual. Notthattheresanythingwrongwiththat. Please click on

I think people read too much into Laverne and Shirley's relationship. But there were some very strange moments. Shirley gave Laverne a long kiss on the mouth when the pilot got knocked out and they had to fly the plane. Laverne said something like "we'll talk about that later". I guess Shirley was under a lot of stress and they were very close. Shirley was once in the shower and Laverne wanted her opinion about a wig. So Laverne stuck her head in the shower. I thought that was a little odd. Wouldn't most people ask their roommate and/or best friend to stick their head out of the shower?

Laverne must have been bi and a total freak. A lot of freaky chicks wear bangs. I think it is a Bettie Page thing. Laverne's dad wanted a son. He got both a daughter and a son.

And to think that as a kid, I always thought that big L on all her clothes she wore stood for "Laverne".
