Did they gradually do the jump in time or did they just speed things up two years between Season 5 and 6? It started in 1958, right, but Season 6 takes place in 1965. Penny Marshall's looks changed quite drastically from Season 5 to 6 as well.
shareA major time jump had to have happened between Seasons 5 & 6 as Edna and Frank get married in the beginning of Season 5 but by the end of Season 6 they are celebrating their 5 year anniversary.
Yeah, that's really bizzare. I wonder why they felt it necessary. I mean, if the show progressed a year each season it would've been 1963. Why did it have to go from 1960 to 1965 like that?!

The episode Airport 59 took place in 1959 but aired in August '77. The shows timeline was sped up by the 5-6 season. When they moved to Burbank in the fall of 1980, it was 1964/1965. 81-82 was 65/66 and 82-83 was 1966-1967. The show's timeline started in 59 I believe. It seems to me it would have been 63 by the time they moved to CA but the Beatles hit it big in 64 & the girls had the Beatles on their wall already. For a show set in the mid 60's, everyone dressed for the early 80's. Happy days was particularly bad about that as well. In both shows the guys were wearing izod shirts at times, & Laverne had a Farrah Fawcett haircut by the time Shirkey got married.
