Problem with 'The Bardwell Caper'

Don't get me wrong, it's one of the highlights of Season 6 but I just rewatched it for the first time in probably 20 years and it kinda bugs me that they are basing the whole scheme on the TV show Mission Impossible and this season of L&S takes place in 1965 for the most part (based on the opening Credits and the Happy New Year Banner) yet Mission Impossible didn't even start airing until Fall of 1966.

And they do it again in the following episode "High Priced Dates" where Laverne is making lots of Star Trek references but Star Trek also didn't premiere until Fall of 1966.

Maybe they were actually basing that episode on "Get Smart" which started airing in the fall of 1965 instead of on "Mission:Impossible".

If this is the epidode another poster mentioned about a spy in the cabinet or drawer or dumbwaiter or something like that, then it was very obviously based on "Get Smart" instead of "Mission:Impossible".

They specifically mention mission impossible as being Laverne's inspiration and Lenny and Squiggy even hum the theme song to it.

There was a disco ball in Mr Hildebrand's office at the end of the episode. They didn't have disco balls in the mid 60's.
