***CaRmInE*** I LOVE YOU @-}----------

I was dissapointed that Shirly and Carmine never married. I think Shirley and Carmine should have ended up together in the end. They were the perfect together. Does anyone else agree???

I'll agree with that. Why is it when they broke up they remained so damn friendly??? Never happen in real life.

I know a few people wanted to see Laverne marry Lenny and Shirley marry Squiggy but, lets face it, Lenny and Squiggy were repulsive so that would never happen.

Yeah I hated that Shirley married someone she barely knew. So un-Shirley.

I actually came on here to see if Carmine and Shirley ever got married. I was soo dissapointed to find out it never happened. They were cute, and I always hoped it would happen...and always thought it would. It just seems weird that they would have the two be together for so long and be so serious, just to end it with Shirley marrying some other guy.

reply

I don't think they were ever actually a couple, since they both continually dated others, and Shirley was always talking about getting married to this one and that one. They were friends without benefits.

reply

Once Shirley ran off with that other man, I was kinda hoping Laverne would have hooked up with Carmine. They know each other very well, they've always had a flirtatious thing going, and her father would have approved because he was italian.

Ohhh...Mr. Greenfield!

I always wanted them together!!! I was always hoping that they would. You could tell the really loved/liked each other.

I had expected Shirley and Carmine to be together in the end.

reply

@lferrigon-1 - so did I, and I'm very bitter that they didn't.

reply

I loved Carmine too. He was probably my favorite character over everyone. Him and Shirley were adorable together!

reply

I wanted Shirley to marry Carmine and have his Little Ragoos.

Shirley and Carmine's relationship seemed odd. I think dating was different in the '50s.

Maybe Carmine wasn't good enough for Shirley. He was a good guy, but she was looking for someone with money. Carmine was a champion dancer and boxer. He could have got a little vo-dee-o-doe-doe from a lot of chicks instead of getting played by Shirley. When was her balloon going to land?

Shirley dated other guys. I assume Carmine dated other women. Do you ever see any of Carmine's dates?

reply

They showed Lucille, the older woman Carmine dated. If Cindy Williams had not left the show before it was finished then the finale would probably have been the wedding of Carmine and Shirley.

reply

I just saw an early episode from season one and was a little disappointed with Carmine. He threatened to beat up Squiggy for spreading rumors about Shirley. Sure, Squiggy was asking for it. But Carmine was a Golden Gloves champion boxer. And a champion only uses his fists inside the ring. I think every boxer is taught that starting with his first visit to the gym.

I know a guy who is huge and knows how to fight. I have never seen him raise a hand to anyone, not even in jest. He doesn't have to make threats. No one in his right mind would mess with that guy.

reply

It was a scare tactic. If that episode bothered you then don't watch the one in which Carmine took a job with a loan shark to make sure people 'paid up'. Of course he couldn't go through with it because he was such a good guy.
Besides L&S was before everyone sued over everything.

Laverne and Carmine would have made a nice couple. In the last season after Shirley married Walter Meany and dumped Carmine he became fair game for Laverne. But it might have felt strange for Laverne being with someone who had dated her best friend for so long. Who am I kidding? Laverne was O.B., Original Bimbo. I am joking, of course. Those were fighting words. I guess she was a little bit of a bimbo.

reply

Laverne wasn't a bimbo. Carmine became more of a brother to her. I'd liked to have seen the series end with a wedding for Laverne.

Shirley and Carmine were cute - I actually made a fan video tribute to them here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7WW3j0fhfY

My favorite couple on the show was always Laverne & Lenny.... but that's a WHOLE other can of worms. ;)

The one episode, One Heckuva Note, where Laverne & Carmine were paired together always interested to me. It wasn't quite "right," but I could definitely see them having good physical chemistry together. :)

I just saw the introduction of another "Happy Days" spin off, "Blansky's Beauties". I noticed Eddie Mekka is left handed. Did they ever show him boxing left handed? Although the "Happy Days" episode on which Nancy Blansky played by Nancy Walker first appeared took place in the early '60s, "Blansky's Beauties" itself was set in (then) present-day 1977. Eddie Mekka's character Joey DeLuca was a younger (and identical) cousin to Carmine Ragusa.

Carmine was a Golden Gloves champion of Milwaukee. Did they ever say what weight class? Did he ever consider turning pro?

What did you think of The Fonz? Carmine appeared as a guest on a "Happy Days" episode called "Joanie's Weird Boyfriend". Carmine and Fonz appeared to be close friends. Fonz also appeared to be friends with Carmine when both of them attended the bachelor party of a mutual friend on the second episode of "Laverne & Shirley" appropriately called "The Bachelor Party". In one of the really lame California episodes after Cindy Williams left Carmine discussed Fonz like he was a casual acquaintance. That ticked me off.
