What Did Willie Do All Day? Did He Have A Job?
He dropped out of high school, but did he have a job? What did he do all day? Did his parents make him pay rent?

shareWillie worked in a shop doing something with films/photography. It's been a while since I've seen the show but he might have done editing or something like that. He was an aspiring writer and photographer.
I'm not sure about the rent part...

Willie worked a variety of jobs while wanting to become a writer. He was a photographer's assistant & worked for a TV network. This last job paid rather well, considering he didn't have a high school diploma. His father sometimes assigned him chores, such as yard work, to "punish" him for quitting high school.
Pay rent? Hah! Both Willie and Nancy sponged off their parents well into their young adult years. In the show's early seasons, Nancy lived out back in the guesthouse with her son Timmy, paying no rent or utiilities. She often came to the "big house" to eat or take food from the refrigerator. She constantly dropped Timmy off for her parents and siblings to babysit, and on one occasion took Kate's car without asking when her own wouldn't start. (This was after leaving Kate a list of her errands to run, which Kate was expected to somehow accomplish with no car.) Later on, when Nancy finished law school, she and Timmy moved into their own apartment and Willie got the guesthouse. He moved into Lizzy's apartment when they got married, but I don't remember if he kept it on after she died.
Willie was such a bum. He had free room and board, clothing, used his parents' cars, etc. At least Nancy was working toward a goal. Willie wanted to become a writer and wrote at least one screenplay, but never spent serious time wondering where his next meal was coming from.
