Vol. 2 of Black Sheep Squadron available in France

I ordered the Set 3 days ago and received it today. You can get Vol. 2 of the BSS at http://www.amazon.fr or at http://www.ebay.fr

Enter either "Les tetes brulees" or "Les têtes brulées" in the search field. That's the name of the show in France.

I just finished watching the first disc. So far I can say the following about the set.

The Volume 2 Series comes on 4 DVDs. Unlike Vol. 1, Universal decided to use one-sided double-layer discs. On each disc are 3 episodes, totalling 11 Episodes (Episode 15&16 Deadliest Enemy of them all is a 2-hour special).

The DVDs are Region 2 encoded. The picture is PAL.

The DVDs have French and English mono 2.0 audio tracks.

2 French subtitles are availabe, but no english subtitles.

The DVD-Menu is in French, but that's no problem, you can easily navigate it, just takes 10 sec. to get used to it.

You can either select each episode individually or play all.

When the episodes start, it begins with the preview of the show just like it did in Vol. 1.

One thing I noticed though, when they first blend in the opening title, "...became the terrors of the South Pacific..." it is in French. The Episode title is blended in in English but also in French at the bottom. The credits remain in english. Also during the shows, when a reference is made to Vella la Cava etc. the French used a black block with french language and blended over the original description. This is only for 2 sec. though. The subtitles or translations for when the Japanese speak are also blended in in French.

The picture quality is good, could use some improvement though. Here I think the NTSC version of Vol. 1 was a bit better. The colors slightly seem to fluctuate. This might be because the movie was transferred from NTSC to PAL, don't really know though. It has nothing to do with my tv, because it supports both pal and ntsc. They also didn't remove the small dust blemishes, which keep showing up. But hey, it's better than nothing.

The shows on Discs are longer than the History Channel versions. If they're totally uncut remains to be unknown.

I hope I was able to give a somewhat detailed description of the French Vol. 2 Set of the Black Sheep Squadron.

Hey, glad to hear about Vol. 2 being available in France. Any word on when they'll be available here in the USA? I don't like doing business with Foreign based businesses, especially France. (Just my thing) Besides I work at Walmart and like actually having product in hand before buying sometimes packages are badly abused and I would be upset to open package to find Discs damaged after waiting all this time for Vol. 2 to be available. Let me know if find out something. Contact me at [email protected]

thanks, tim

Hi Tim,

I have no info when or if Universal Studios is going to release the Vol.2 of BSS.

I bought my volume of BSS over Ebay.fr I must say it was a quick and good transaction. I got a brandnew sealed set. Payment can be made via Paypal. That way you can't really get screwed over since your purchase is insured.

But it's your decision. I just couldn't wait any longer for the US release, that's why I got the French release of BSS Vol.2.
