Black Sheep DVD Volume 2 Release on July 3 in U.S.
Look like volume 2 will be released in July with the rest of the season 1 epidodes 2 years after volume 1 release

What a bunch of idiots! The artwork on the cover shows exactly how much they care about this release - ZERO! The cover shows a formation of P-40's on the cover. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Black Sheep. The ONLY tie-in, if they wanted to use it, was the fact that Pappy first served with the AVG in China, flying P-40's prior to the formation of the Black Sheep. If they wanted to use that, they should have used it for Vol 1. In Vol. 1, they at least include the pilot episode, "Flying Misfits", which contains a very brief opening sequence of Pappy flying the P-40. Vol 2 has no scenes or tie-in's whatsoever to the P-40.
Other things that piss me off:
- we've had to wait over 2 years since Vol. 1 came out
- Universal is trying to shaft us for money by breaking the entire series up into Volumes which are totally unrelated to the season or anything. Let's see, $ 39.98 times 3 is $ 119.94 for 26 episodes! What a rip off! They could have put both seasons in one boxed set and sold it for a more reasonable price, like $50 or $60.
- a serious lack of extras or anything remotely resembling other DVD releases.
This all goes to show that Universal is a money-grubbing corporation that cares nothing about the quality of the product they are putting out.

shareI have to agree, since the show only ran 37 episodes (2 hour pilot, 21 season one episodes, and 15 season two episodes) they could have released the entire package in a "Baa Baa Black Sheep: The Complete Series) and charged say $69 for the whole thing. In addition, NONE of the episodes have any digital cleanup or audio fixes (you can clearly see speckles in a lot of scenes, esp. in volume 2). I bought the series, since it was a favorite of mine growing up as a kid (was 12 at the time the series came on the air).
However, the introduction of Andy Micklin (College Boys), and Byron Chung as IJN Captain Tommy Hirachi (Me not going swimming today Boyington, maybe you), or (It no fun to shoot you when your plane no work, you fix plane, I get you) (bwhahahaah)...
Now if they would just release season two and complete the set (of course, Gutterman is not in season two, no explantion (probably transferred to another squadron, and the addition of nurses (Pappy's Lambs - to compete against charlies angels), and the addition of Jeb (in the episode Forbidden Fruit) would turn out to be one of the better episodes of the series (looking in the cockpit, well Major, if you try to fly it the way the sergent has it installed, you'll be flying into mountains.. Micklin - "What's wrong with it Sonny boy?", Jeb - "The Scope's upside down..."...Micklin - "How am I supposed to know which side is up, I ain't ever seen one of these things before..."

You are so right the cover is rather insulting. The P40 was a great aircraft for its time but has nothing to do with the rest of the series. If you look closely at the formation pattern. That's the attack formation of Kates, Zekes, and sometimes Vals....Yes Japanese attack formation. What happened....Are they going on the scenerio the Japanese somehow confiscated some P40s??? I know it sounds too ridiculous. But remember Meatball Circus? Why not This series is not intended as a factual account. Neither was M*A*S*H but it ran for a very long time with few objections.
I don't like the box or the design but I love the series and would have bought it even if they had the Flintstones on the cover. But somebody really needs to have a discussion with Universal about the cover artists that need to study subject BEFORE mass selling the boxed sets.
It does kinda make me wonder what's going to be on the cover of Vol 3 perhaps maybe "The Smurfs" ha ha or better "Snoopy and the Red Baron" silly but wouldn't surprise me....ha ha ha...
