Would 'The Bear and the Lion' have been more apropos?

Maybe a bit too obvious and heavy-handed, but perhaps more badass and relevant?

Maybe. Like you say, that's a kind of "hit you on the head" title and symbolism.

Screenwriting doesn't get much better than this and the movie's title is perfect.
