Worst Movie Ever

I love campy movies from the 70's about truck drivers; Convoy, Smokey & the Bandit, Movin' on, BJ & The Bear, but this move has to be one of the worst ever filmed. No plot substance, crappy story line and a lot of mindless dialogue.

It doean't get any worse!

reply

You couldn't have seen too many movies if you think this is the worst movie ever made.

reply

Excuse me but you forgot to mention the bad banjo chase music.

reply

"Manos: The Hands of Fate" is much, much worse.

reply

This isn't the worst low budget grindhouse 70s film. This isn't even the worst 70s trucker film.

America isnt ready for a gay mexican chicken sandwich - Poultrygeist

reply

Worst movie ever? Clearly, you've never seen John Travolta and Lily Tomlin in Moment by Moment.

reply

What? You mean you didn't like, for instance, Carroll's attorney's explanation of a grand jury as, "Sixteen of your peers, signed, sealed and delivered...just like The Constitution says!"?? Such gripping dialogue! Oof!

reply

I love it when people say worst ever-there is always one worse-somewhere

reply

It is way too pulpy for its own good! It jumps into high gear minutes after starting. A bit too much to take. If they had built up to it, and had Jan Michael-Vincent more slowly realizing how corrupt things were, it would have worked better.

If you're going to get that melodramatic, you need to go all the way and make it hard-boiled film noir.

reply

This is on my "to watch" list, but it's not getting much love here.

Have you seen "Citizen's Band," another '70s trucking movie? That's a good one, and a film I sometimes hear lumped in with "White Line Fever."

reply

Another Travolta vehicle -- "Staying Alive" -- is worse than this. Heck, anything Travolta made between "Blow Out" and "Pulp Fiction" is probably worse than this.

reply

No, please NO! Don't mention "Staying Alive!" It took years of therapy to help me forget that one. :-)

reply

Hell that's nothing: how about "Perfect"? Or "Two of a Kind"? Or "The Experts"? I saw them all and I can assure you they make "Staying Alive" look like "Seven Samurai."

reply

No, Stop! What do you do for a living? Torture people at CIA Black Sites? :-)

Man, those are all howlingly awful! I know that lots of people love 80's movies. But, while I loved the music of that decade, to me, movies got REALLY bad. Corporate movie making took over and it hasn't changed since.

reply

"Citizens Band" (a.k.a. "Handle with Care") is a very good movie! Very good early work from Jonathan Demme.

Both involved CB Radios. So, I think that's what gets them lumped together. :-)

Yeah! Well, I grew up in the 70's and like the nostalgia, even though the movie itself is pretty nuts! "Smokey and the Bandit," to my mind, is the best of the CB Radio-related movies.

reply

[deleted]

Well sure, but I've seen that. My list is movies what that I ain't seen yet but want to.

reply

Well, give us your full list, and we'll tell you what we think. :-)

reply

I *do* have it in a semi-organized spreadsheet...

reply

Has it been collated? :-)

Not at all partial to trucker films. Just noticed this in the list of "recently discussed" films and popped in because I know it's on ye olde list. Many of my favorite films are b&w, so I'll definitely give Wages of Fear a shot. Thanks for the recommendation!

reply

The remake of "Wages of Fear," William Friedkin's "Sorcerer" is really wild too!

reply

Remember what happened to Slim Pickens about 1/2 way thru? Ouch!

Kay Lenz played the wife. I God's, she was absolutely gorgeous then. What a sweetheart.

That movie was big shit at that time with all the trucker materiel and the CB craze.

reply

I have to say, it is very well shot. And, the location work is very good, capturing the 1970's trucking scene better than probably any other movie. Great poster, too! Okay, sure, it "kind of" gives away the ending ;-) but hey. :-)
