I think the "Mom I'm Home" phonecall scene is a great showcase of Karen Black's talent, all the emotions her character feels are there, changing from nervousness to anger to frustration to dismay. What a terrific actress indeed!

I agree. Wonderful performances like hers in this film is the reason she is one of my top 5 favorite actresses.
