For everyone who watched this as a kid......

I was born in '74, and saw it when I was 5. I was alone too, and scared out of my pants! My mom knew I was watching it in the livingroom, while she made dinner and thought nothing of it. Yeah, in today standards, thats crazy. I also watched Poltergeist when it first came out, and had nightmares for years! My husband thinks its really funny to sing "God is in His holy temple, earthly thoughts be silent now.." Anyway, my question is this: How many people are seriously angry that their parents let them watch this? Yes, I was freaked out as a kid, but it also sparked my LOVE for all horror movies, which my mom totally supported. I am now a mother of 2 myself, and tried to keep my little guys from watching scary things. But my 6 yr old hid in the hallway and watched Poltergesit 1 & 2, as well as some new ones like: Underworld etc.. I had no idea he was there, but he was there when we rented the movies, and looked at the boxes, so when we would put in the movies, after the kids were asleep, or so we thought he was in the hallway. He was caught this last time (Underworld) so we talked about it and watched the making of CGI etc... it's been a year and he has yet to have a nightmare because of it. And yes, he would tell me, because I have always told him if he was scared we could talk about it. I think that maybe, just maybe it really doesn't bother him, and actually likes them. Does that make me a "Twisted Parent"? Maybe. BTW I looked up the site where they are selling the Zuni doll just to see if I could look at it again (it has been a zillion years, LOL) He looked over my shoulder and asked what is that? I explained it was THE scary movie doll for me when I was a kid. He laughed and laughed saying "God mom, YOU were scared of THAT?"

Hey old man river! Zip it, before I break your hip!~~~~Tyna

How about "Dark Night of the Scarecrow", with Charles Durning? This too, freaked me out as a kid...

I was born in '69 and watched this as a kid, the doll scared the pee out of me just like everyone else. I always loved the horror movies, I must've been about eight or so sneaking reading the Amityville Horror, and that scared me too. The thing that freaked me out the most though was definitely Salem's Lot, that scene with the kid floating in the air tapping at the window scared me FOR YEARS! I had to clip my curtains closed (still do!) because I was so afraid I'd see that kid. My ex bought me Salem's on dvd and I still can't bring myself to watch it. The old Night Gallery shows really creeped me out and watching them as an adult I still enjoy them. Stuff was just scarier back then without being gory.

I saw this at some point on on a Saturday afternoon in the early 1980s probably. I got the impression my parents thought it was funny, but it scared the crap out of me at the time. It seemed like quite some time before I was no longer scared of a creepy indestructible doll running around my house. I think, although cheesy, a lot of older movies are almost more scary than new ones because of the low-budget 1970s/80s filming and recording techniques and methods.

Saw this when it first came out in 1975 I was 14. Who could ever forget that Doll! I was glad that I grew up in the 1970's. It was the best decade for Made for TV movies. Also notable, were Bad Ronald, Go Ask Alice, The Night Stalker, The Boy in The Plastic Bubble, -- the list goes on forever.

I was 12 when this came on TV. I don't scare easy (I sat through "Psycho" when I was only 10) but this gave me nighmares. Karen Black was great in all four roles but that last segment got to me (and everybody else on this board:)). That night I had to sleep with a nightlight on and I kept thinking I heard that little Zumi doll creeping into my room. And that last image of Black grinning has never left me. Easily one of the best made for TV films ever.

I first saw this movie as a young kid and don't regret it. I like watching freaky stuff like that Doll story.

I dont think I can be mad at my Mom for letting me watch this. I remember being at a party, one of my stepdads friends house i think, and it came on late at night. It was background noise for them but I sat on the couch and watched the whole thing while the world just passed me by. I remember sitting there and being completely mesmerised by what I was watching. I couldnt get it out of my head for months. This is one of the top five scariest things I remember from childhood. The other four would be the first time a saw the Elephant Man. The origional alien. That made me stay awake for three days before I finaly fell asleep at school. Cujo scared the hell out of me. But the all time worst for me was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I still get a nightmare from it about once a year. Crazy!!! It traumatized me as a child. It's still hard for me to watch it all the way through. But like most people on here, I now love the horror genre of movies. I have to say that the remake of Dawn of the Dead is my favorite. But I can save that for another time...

Thanks Mom

My mom said this she watched this when she was a teenager. She said her and her friends laughed so hard because the dolls was ridiculous in the complete B-movie horror style. I recently saw the segment and I laughed too.

Are we the only ones who thought the doll was laughably bad?

I remember watching this when I was about 6 or 7 years old and the segment with the doll scared the hell out of me. For the next year or so, the sound of those old wind up alarm clocks reminded me of the doll. . .

I'm 40 plus yrs old. I rememeber it giving me nightmares. It seems that the boogy man under the bed thing is a constant, with all the viewers. I think films today focus more on blood and gore vs mystery and supsense.
Much like someone posted earlier, we need a support group. LOL

I'm a little younger than most here, having been born in the late 80s. This is the one movie that has always stood out in my mind as scaring me as a child. I had to have been under 8 years old when I saw this. I only remembered one distinct part where the lady traps the doll in a suitcase and it starts to knife its way out! I seriously had that minute-long clip in my head for years and years till finally I described it on yahoo answers looking for the name of the movie. One kind person's answer led me here and VOILA! Finally some closure, although the pictures of the doll dredged up old memories! I just re-watched it on youtube and found it hilarious and campy, but MAN..when I was a kid I had serious sleepless nights!

When this first came on in 1975 I was six years old, and my mother exercised her parental duty and refused to let me see it. It wasn't until many years later when I was in my teens when I finally saw Trilogy Of Terror on late-night TV. Good thing my mom didn't let me watch it at the time, because it probably would have given me nightmares for weeks!

Yep, saw it as a child with my sister and brother when we were younger, but it still creeps me out to this day. Say what you will, this episode was very spooky, and gave too many of us nightmares. Cheap by todays standards, but it worked back then, and that's good enough for me.

I pray to God there is never a remake of this one in particular, we're experiencing enough violence, and something tells me this one would be even more 'graphic' and worse.
