The next-best thing is the concert film
Listening to You: The Who at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970. The current DVD release features a lengthy interview with Pete Townshend that is well worth seeing.
What's interesting about the film is that it presents
Tommy as the climax of the concert when it was in actuality "bookended" by several non-
Tommy songs including a couple of "odds and sods" that I've not seen/heard elsewhere: "I Don't Even Know Myself" and "Water."
