The soundtrack album cover freaked me out when I was a kid

I was 5 years old when the movie was released and remembered the soundtrack album. Mostly how scary the cover was!! Roger Daltrey (or a stand in) with dark glasses and a cork in his mouth. I was quite frightened to say the least. Some thirty years later I still find the cover quite disturbing though I'm not as scared as I used to be!!

"Tommy: The Soundtrack". Sort of makes sense when you think about it.

reminds me of how I found my uncle's old LP of Queen's "News of The World" as a kid and the cover scared the absolute *beep* out of me

bradster: I noticed a startling similarity between "Tommy" and "Carrie" the other day while watching the new blu-ray. Sally Simpson, like Carrie, is warned by a religious fanatic parent NOT to go to an ungodly event and WARNS her that disaster and humiliation will ensue if she does go. Disaster ensues. Another interesting connection is that Russell was one of the directors considered for "Carrie" and also both films got a Best Actress Oscar nomination.

I loved Louise in "Cuckoo's Nest" also but I really feel she should have been put in the Supporting Actress category for that. I just don't feel she had the screen time to warrant it.

And also - LOL - Tommy Ross and Tommy Walker HAVE THE SAME HAIR!

Except that Mr. Simpson doesn't WARN her about disaster or humiliation or anything at all. He simply announces that Sally can't go to the meeting. Later on he says, "Don't say I didn't warn yer," but that could mean anything.

I was only seven when my older sister and cousin took me to see "Tommy". It really wasn't a movie for a young child.

I can't remember how old I was, but I saw Tommy as a young kid and Cousin Kevin and Uncle Ernie scared the holy crap out of me! Just watched it again for the first time in roughly 25 years and it still scares me (kinda thought I'd be over it by now)! Kevin, Ernie, The Acid Queen and her iron maiden full of syringes - OH MY GOD! Horrifying film - wish I could've stopped looking!
