Spot on! As the British say.
That is indeed a perfect list.
And may I add a very, very underrated film, "The Laughing Policeman".
Matthau is absolutely brutal in that film playing a burnt out bitter cop on the trail of a killer.
The film also includes the always excellent Bruce Dern as Matthau's partner.
My daughters and I watch "The Sunshine Boys" and laugh until our sides hurt.
God bless Walter Matthau.

The same can be said for George Burns, who effortlessly played God in all three of the “Oh God!” films.

Although it was a small role, I loved him in Charade. I just saw Sunshine Boys for the first time and he was so good in it.

What could Matthau not do? He could do it all: Comedy, tragedy, villan, hero. He was so underrated.

A New Leaf is a must see. Brilliant.
