which other Sonny Chiba movies are worth buying? i have the street fighter triple feature, but i was wondering about shadow warriors and others. which ones are sweet?

My copy of Assassin seems to be only half-translated... I liked the spirit behind Killing Machine since it seemed a more heart-warming and wholesome (though still quite brutal) film. Ah, the power of love!

legend of the 8 samurai. it's not like Street Fighter at all, and Chiba's hardly in it, but it's still awesome.

Chiba isn't the main character, but Ninja Wars is pretty badass lots of blood and cool stuff.

I'd strongly recommend Karate Bullfighter, Karate Bear fighter, Shogun's Samurai (The Yagyu Clan Conspiracy) and Swords of Vengeance (Fall of Ako Castle). Though Chiba has a somewhat smaller part in the latter his present is definitely felt.
Karate Bullfighter and Karate Bear Fighter are two (out of three) romanticized tales of Chiba's master Oyama-sensei. Pretty good real karate. The third Karate for Life was alright.
Shogun's Samurai is the tale of I believe the third, maybe fourth Tokugawa shogun dying without naming a successor. His two sons (like the sons of many samurai) fought each other for supremacy. The oldest son aligns himself with a chamberlain and the female leader of the castle's harem. But the main supporter comes in the presence of Kinnosuke Nakamura whom plays Master Tajima Yagyu, the Yagyu fencing teacher. Chiba-san plays his son the legendary Jubei Yagyu, which Chiba played several more times in his career. The other son aligns with their mother (his and his brother), some more politians and Toshiro Mifune whom plays a daimyo loyal to the younger brother.
Swords of Vengeance another retelling of the 47 ronin story (MY FAVORITE SAMURAI TALE). Once again most of the cast from Shogun's Samurai are in here including Nakamura-san whom plays the Ako clan's chamberlain. Chiba's character is a ronin named Fuwa whom was banished from their clan for killing a man in a duel. Fuwa however returns to lend a hand to Chamberlain Oishi and the rest of the Ako ronin in killing Advisor Kira.
