He probably didn't intend it to be funny so no. If you want funny expressions though, check out Riki Takeuchi in Battle Royale 2. You won't forget easily the faces he makes in that movie.

I can't watch him without thinking of the Grinch in the original cartoon. And I give Chiba enough credit to assume that he knows it's hilarious.
