For me this movie is a prologue to "PORNUCOPIA" by Piers Anthony. In "Shivers" we see a birth of a world that is not just obsessed with sex - it has sex as a religion.

I didn't like this movie's ending. I prefer the happier endings. He should have set fire to the place at least.

happier? This is a Cronenberg movie man...happy's got no place here...check out "The Brood", the last 20 minutes is "edge-of-your-seat"

what really worked for me in the final scene was the weird chanting of the soundtrack Cronenberg used for the baptisim

You left out Rabid. I saw it as a kid and spent the hour afterwards depressed. Then I ate some ice cream and the world was wonderful again. Ah, childhood.
