'first Horro movie in Canada'

Black Christmas was 1974, so it would be the earliest I can recall.
Just throwing that out there

Yeah I don't know if there is other ones older but BC seems the first one... or at least the first canadian slasher!... I think

*** Love, Peace & Comprehension (among others) do it better! :-)

Black Christmas was one of the first slasher flicks of all time from what I remember...Halloween is cited often, but BC came out a bit earlier and sets up the same basic idea, first person perspective of the killing, teens dying and so forth.

Bay of Blood did it before Black Christmas. POV shots were nothing knew. Argento and Bava were doing that years before Black Christmas

Very true. While I would go so far as to say Black Christmas is a far superior film to any of the works of Bava or Argento, one should give credit where it is due.

yea right! there is no way black christmas is better than suspiria, tenebre, phnomena, deep red, black sunday, black sabbath, bay of blood, etc.... plus i think peeping tom was the first to use the p.o.v. killing.

thats just like my opinion though man.

I think THE REINCARNATE came out in '71. LE DIABLE EST PARMI NOUSE / THE POSSESSION OF VIRGINIA came out in 1972.

THE PYX in '73.

By the same director of Black Christmas:

Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things (1973)
Dead of Night (1974) - actually finished in 1972, but was only released in 1974.

reply

Earliest one I can think of is The Mask (1961).
