The entire movie is a fearless commentary on the relation between men and women starring the man who should know.
I always thought Beatty was a shallow jerk until I saw Shampoo. Now I understand why Beatty had so many affairs, and not with cheap bimbos, but with the smartest, classiest women of his time.
This movie pulls no punches. Should be required viewing for all adolescents.
Despite being set firmly in the late 60s, there is a timeless quality about it.
