The Most BORING Horror Movie Ever

I have just wasted twelve quid on the pile of rubbish that is Deep Red. It really is the most BORING, INTERMINABLE horror movie I have ever watched. So slow, so unscary. Why on earth do so many people rate this movie so highly????

Needless to say, I am not keeping this Blu Ray, so am flogging it on ebay, if anybody is interested.

You obviously haven't acquired a taste for these kinds of films.

No, you are wrong, and let me disabuse you of that stupid misconception right away. I HAVE acquired a taste for these kinds of films. For God's sake, I LOVE Italian horror movies like Argento's, and indeed have many of them in my collection.

I wish to God that some people would think first before they rush to make such ludicrous judgements on a person's movie tastes. Not EVERYBODY loves Deep Red, you know.

Oh yes, and I must say it again: it was the most BORING horror movie I have ever, ever seen in my whole life. Can't understand why so many like it.

Calm down. I wasn't trying to insult you... maybe I assumed that you didn't know anything about Italian horror, but it seemed strange, how someone who loves Italian horror, is just now seeing Deep Red.

which Italian horror films did you enjoy??

I've heard hilarious claims like "Ingmar Bergman is a bad director and his films are boring"... that's just one person's opinion. And I kind of laugh at the thought that someone who thinks that will be missing out on ALOT of very good films. And this is just one example...

So I apologize if I offended you, just trying to point out that while you may think it's boring... I and many others don't agree.

"This film is boring" is an opinion... not a fact.

If you can sit through this movie and can't catch the absolute macabre beauty of each set piece than I really doubt cinema is for you.

It's perfectly justified for someone to think this movie is *beep*

I don't think this will help, but the reason why I love this movie - giving it a 10/10 rating - is because of the following reasons:
1. The stunning tension, there are brilliant scenes that stunned my cousins and I because of the tension. i.e. when Marcus was sitting and playing the piano the Lullaby starts playing nearby. (We were literally holding our breaths). It was established in the previous scenes that it is the murderer's calling card. That was so creepy.
2. The cinematography, which honestly a lot of directors have imitated (John Carpenter is one of them). For example Tarantino often takes long, uncut scenes like Argento did with Deep Red. Especially in the Director's Cut the cinematography is really well done.
3. The script. Yes, the story has its absurdities (the medium, the doll, the wall hiding the body etc), but each scene is carefully staged and it would not be the case if not for the solid script.
4. The atmosphere, it is paranoia inducing and keeps you at its grip long after the movie has ended. I sometimes start looking out the window to see if someone's watching me after I have seen the movie.
5. The music, it was important that the right music was used to set the mood. I think it was very fitting to use Goblin's music. Jazzy, gothic but still Baroque enough to give the movie a brooding, if not, creepy atmosphere.

I am not expecting you to see it the same way I do, but that is why I love the movie.

P.S. Saying it is the most boring horror movie ever just because you find it boring, is a logical fallacy. A) I find it boring, so B) It is the most boring movie ever, because of A).

You know capitalizing words does not make you right.

I absolutely hate anyone who finds DEEP RED boring. Such people sicken me to the very heart. To me, this is the best giallo of all time, and by a significant margin. As such, it's one of the best thrillers ever made. Even Hitchcock was impressed by it.

The script is phenomenal, as are the performances (Hemmings and Nicolodi are dynamite here), and the shot design is simply breathtaking. No complaints from me, obviously.

Then comes some dimwit (WEBFIX and those of his ilk) who insists that the film is worthless. When someone suggests that the dimwit in question should stay away from gialli, he becomes hostile and aggressive in his defense of both his tastes and his opinions. I wish no shortage of unwell on such bimbo types.

Frankly, WEBFIX, DEEP RED is far too good for you, as evidenced by your tiny brain's outright rejection of it. Go stare at a spotlight for a few hours, then those pesky movies won't beckon you anymore and subsequently waste your precious time.

I'd submit that attention spans are nonexistent these days and that you were probably looking at Instagram or Twitter when this movie was playing instead of paying attention to it. What's boring is you, not the film.
