What is the real story behind the girl?
We see her on the same street as Robertson's house, in Palermo, etc. Who is she? Is she a spy? Is Antonioni just taking the piss?

Palermo??
The film isn't shot in Sicily :-S
In the version I saw, Schneider makes her first appearance in London. Locke walks down some steps in London (I've heard its Bloomsbury) just before visiting his own house and sees The Girl sat on a bench reading. This wasn't at the beginning of the film. It was probably about 20-25 mins into it.
Locke even mentions to The Girl later on when they stop at a roadside cafe that he had seen her before in London.
Are you sure there is a scene in Palermo? I've never read or heard anything about this film being shot in Sicily or Italy.
