After reading the book I wish this scene could've been in the movie. SPOILER

In the book after the first group meeting where Harding is put on the spot and all the other patients yell at him, McMurphy expresses to everyone that the meeting didn't help anyone. He says it was a Pecking Party and explains that a lot of times male chickens kill each other by pecking at each other with their beaks til one of them is dead. So in other words, he says the meeting was just everyone pecking at each other instead of helping each other out. He is completely right.

I think that was something the film expected the audience to figure out. Sometimes less exposition is better.

I agree. Great part in the book though.
