Security in that institution was a joke!

shareIt was a long time ago but I can agree. In the book they had more than one security guard most of the time.

I felt that it was a little too easy for the characters to break out. I guess it isn't a prison and many of the inmates went there at their own will.
shareIt wasn't a high-security facility, and the inmates were controlled with drugs, electroshock, straitjackets and locked doors, and various forms of intimidation. They weren't dangerous people when functioning at their best, after enough thorazine and electricity most of them probably couldn't find the door in an empty room.
So if the place had been well-run there wouldn't have been a tom of security, but it was NOT well run.
