Hal Philip Walker and the sound truck

I might be coming kinda late to the party on this but...after seeing Nashville on TCM Tuesday night, it seems to me that Hal Philip Walker himself isn't talking live in the sound truck. It has to be a tape. His voice sounds too even and modulated to be live, especially while riding in a vehicle with bumps and potholes in the road. I like to think that he's driving the truck and is enjoying listening to the sound of his own voice.

I don't exactly understand your question. But Hal Philip Walker is not expected to be in that van. Presidential candidates are usually too busy to go around promoting themselves in person while driving a van. It was the sound of a recording playing a speech or a series of speeches to grab people's attention.

He's not in the van. You'll notice during the traffic accident that his voice keeps talking even though everyone else gets out of the van.

Hmmm . . . I have always pictured him sitting in the back of that truck stumping to beat the band. He's certainly in the back of the truck when Triplette checks in on him right before the rally. Him actually being in the back of the truck while it drives around doesn't make much sense, though, now that I think about it. But considering all the followers he has. If it's a tape, it's certainly someone else driving. But if it's live, that's crazy. But then again, that's Nashville.

I believe he was riding in a limousine at the end of the film. Could imagine politicians really leaving live messages on your answering machine?
