Connie White= Lynn Anderson

I believe the sketch of Connie White is loosely based on Lynn Anderson. It got me to thinking with her recent passing. Lynn Anderson was not really liked in Country Music circles at the time- because she was an outsider who appeared on the Lawrence Welk show and she was from California and had a big hit cross over hit without paying her "dues" in music row.

While she was a good Country singer- she wasn't great, like Loretta Lynn. The movie is showing the contrast between authenticity of Barbara Jean (Loretta Lynn) and the newly commercial of that time- Connie Smith (Lynn Anderson)

Connie Smith is secretly jealous of Barbara Jean because she has more unique talent- Connie Smith is an average talent. Not saying that Lynn Anderson was average in any way, but that is the comparison they are making as to authenticity vs glitz. Connie Smith is probably a cross over artist who is in the business more for fame and recognition.
That is just how I see it. I don't believe Connie Smith is Tammy Wynette in anyway -Tammy was considered real Country music, and her authenticity was noted. Also, Tammy never berated other country singers and her competition . She was very shy and very unassuming.
