shareGo to ebay...they have lots of copies of persons selling the movie. Or do a google search saying Mandingo DVD. They even have acouple clips from the movie on Youtube, you have to put in Susan George's name and then the clips from Mandingo will come up on Youtube.
shareIf I might make a suggestion. Kyle Onstott's original book, written in 1959, was the basis of this movie, twenty years later. The movie is best described as a blaxsploitation film and having little to do with Onstott's meticulously researched novel.
Several other novels followed the success of "Mandingo" each one more tawdry than the last, catering to a market that seemed to spring up for stories involving the using and abusing of an entire race of people, brought the the United States against their will.
As I say, Onstott's original was a serious attempt to fill in a gap in American history, woefully lacking, in favour of myths about Africans working happily at Tara in "Gone With The Wind."
Find the original book and read it.
But, don't think that the film does anything but exploit one aspect of the total picture, the sex and the violence.
