Known for its infamous slave manual inspection scene

When this movie came out, among other things, the most discussed, shocking and scandalous scene was...not the interracial sex. Everyone expected it.

The scene that Mandingo and actor Ken Norton were most infamous for was near the movie's beginning. Ken Norton is standing passively on the slave auction block among other slaves as prospective buyers stroll by inspecting the human merchandise. An overweight, late middle-aged, well-dressed white woman steps up to Ken Norton to inspect him closer. She slips her right hand into Norton's loincloth to fondle his genitals, not for kicks, but to examine him the same as if she were inspecting a prize male race horse. In the scene, actor Perry King and a friend are nearby conversing when they spot the well-to-do, white matron manually inspecting Norton's privates. They yell at the white woman, scolding her for inappropriate unladylike behavior. Unfazed, she yells back at them in German-accented English, telling both men off.
