New book covers the production of MANDINGO and DRUM

The new book “Mondo Mandingo: The Falconhurst Books and Films” covers the entire history of the bizarre “Mandingo” phenomenon including the movie versions of “Mandingo“ and “Drum.” ISBN: 1440175969

This is a wonderful book. He did a ton of research and interviews. It was a million times better then I would have expected. It's worth buying just for the fact that he includes a quote from almost every negative review this underrated film ever got. Definitely worth buying!

And reading the book, it's revealed that the R rated cut in the USA had to remove the close-up of the jugular bite in Topaz' neck and this is the version put out on the Legend DVD. So clearly the version originally released theatrically in Australia and maybe some other territories was the full pre-cut print which has happened with other releases such as Basic Instinct and Angel Heart. Great book though, both an entertaining read and incredibly informative, with quite a few pages devoted to similarly themed films and rip-offs.
