Really odd structure (spoilers)
I thought it was strange that they brought Duvall's character back before the climax, then killed him. And it wasn't even Caan's character who killed him out of revenge for the betrayal. After that, I thought the movie would be over, but it kept going. And with Mako's character, I wondered why they bothered to do the mission. He was bent on going back to Japan to be killed, so why waste men trying to protect him?
