I think it was perfect the way it was. Looks like they would have revealed too much of the shark in the other scenes with Alex.
The scene with the swimming instructor looking Mike in the face as he was being eaten was creepy, but it just didn’t work for me, just the physics of the whole thing, and I’m glad they kept that out too.
Jaws is a rare perfect film to me. It will always be one of my all time favorites, and I get sick to my stomach when I hear all of the remake talk from all of these morons who think visual effects are what make a movie great. No, this does NOT need to be updated for a new generation. In fact, pretty much ALL classic films don’t need to be updated for a new generation. That’s why they are classic, timeless films.
Sorry for the rant at the end there, haha, but yeah, I don’t think that extra footage would have helped the film at all.
No need to apologize! Loved the ranting 🦈

Agreed on all counts, ESPECIALLY how they handled Kintner (gigantic fins at a distance)
I saw this film at a drive-in during the initial run. The scene in the pond will always stay with me, precisely because we can see so little of the shark.
Funny, though, since it was not Spielberg's original intent to keep the shark hidden so long especially after spending so much money on it. The unseen shark only became a thing during the editing process.
But it's genius.
Agreed. A bit like the original Alien movie. Less is more sometimes.
shareLove the film and have seen it many times. Having said that, I would have no issue with those scenes being kept in. I think they would have added to the horror.
share😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
shareThat scene is in the movie. All you're seeing is behind the scenes shots of them filming what is in the movie.
